My association with IPA and the School of Urban Affairs & Public Policy had a phenomenal influence on my future academic and career decisions. While an undergraduate at UD, I was offered the unparalleled opportunity to work as a Legislative Fellow in the Delaware General Assembly and to complete several graduate-level courses. As a Legislative Fellow I was able to see first-hand the inner workings of state government, meet people that I still keep in touch with many years later, and delve into issues that I feel passionate about, including education and criminal justice.
After I graduated with my B.A. in 2003, I made the tough decision to pursue graduate work at a different institution. However, I firmly believe that I never would have had such a choice if not for the amazing experiences I had at IPA. I earned my MPA from New York University in 2005 and continued to work for NYU in government and community relations.
In 2008 I returned to Delaware and happily reconnected with friends and colleagues I knew through IPA. Drawing on experiences working on education and other issues as a Legislative Fellow, I am now working with the Rodel Foundation of Delaware, a nonprofit dedicated to making Delaware's public education system one of the finest in the nation by 2012.MPA, New York University 2005, Public and Nonprofit Management (specialization: General Finance)
