Introduction
Melissa E. Murphy received her MPA in May 2006 with dual concentrations in Healthcare Policy & Management and Financial Management. During her final year as a graduate research assistant at IPA, Melissa served as a Legislative Fellow at the Delaware General Assembly. In 2004, she received her B.A. in Political Science and with a minor in Economics. Her undergraduate work focused on the politics of health care and tremendous need for sound decision-making in this area in light of an aging population. Melissa has enjoyed a variety of experiences during her graduate work. Her internship at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan with the Child and Family Resilience Program in the Department of Psychiatry, and placement at Nemours Health & Prevention Services on the coordinated school health program evaluation team gave her invaluable experience in children’s health policy. Her future aspirations are in health administration or as a policy analyst in state or local government, or in the nonprofit sector.
