After growing up in a family involved in municipal management, Cori completed both her undergraduate and graduate work in public administration. She received her BA in Public Administration with a focus in Public Personnel from the University of Northern Iowa in 2005 and her MPA from the University of Delaware in 2007 with a focus in State and Local Management. During her time at the University of Northern Iowa, she established the State & Local Government Program, a program to support local governments in Iowa and provide a local government-focused Public Administration education for students. While at UD, she worked with state and local government agencies in the areas of planning, land use development, economic development, and municipal management.
Cori currently holds two positions in Dubuque, Iowa. After a two year ICMA Local Government Management Fellowship with the City of Dubuque, she was retained as the Stimulus Coordinator. In this role, Cori manages grant applications and reporting requirements associated with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and also provides management and administrative support to the City Manager’s Office. She continues to play an active role on the community’s Sustainability Task Force and the City’s Intercultural Competency Steering Committee.
Cori is also the Resource Development Director for Historic Millwork District redevelopment for Dubuque Main Street. The Historic Millwork District is a 1,000,000+ square foot neighborhood of under or unutilized warehouse structures that are being redeveloped into a new, urban mixed-use development. Cori coordinates economic development, sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives, nonprofit development, and infrastructure improvements and serves as a liaison between the District property owners, Dubuque Main Street, and the City of Dubuque.
