Three University of Delaware colleges and affiliated programs—each with a strong research and outreach base—are working together to coordinate their activities and help Delaware’s coastal communities achieve their goals. They include the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources and the Cooperative Extension Service; the College of Education & Public Policy and the Institute for Public Administration; and the College of Earth, Ocean & Environment and the Delaware Sea Grant College Program.
With support of an appropriation by the state of Delaware, the deans of these three colleges established a committee to review each college’s activities related to community and economic development in Sussex County, determine how the three colleges could do a better job of coordinating their efforts, and explore ways to better inform the public about these activities.
Of particular significance to the committee were those areas where the three colleges’ current activities intersect and provide and opportunity for enhanced collaboration and effectiveness.
