This is a great icebreaker exercise to loosen up people in a group.
This exercise can be completed with any size group.
There is no age limit.
Set-up
Seat participants in a circle. Optional: bag of props.
How to Play
- The object of this exercise is to identify someone in the circle, approach him or her, and say, “Honey, I love you, but I just can’t make you laugh” with the purpose of making them laugh.
- As the facilitator, you will normally go first.
- The person to whom you are saying this has to look at you and work at keeping a straight face.
- If, you haven’t succeeded in making the person laugh after three tries, pick another target.
- If the person laughs or even smiles, he or she moves into the middle of the circle and selects a target.
- You can do just about anything to get your targets to laugh, except touch them. Funny faces, strange voices, props, etc. are all fair game.
- Once a person has been made to laugh, he or she can no longer be a target.
- The game continues until the last person either breaks down and laughs or withstands the final three attempts to get him or her to laugh.
