12th Annual Conflict Resolution Workshop: A Training Workshop on Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, and Mediation Skill Building, organized by Sacramento State Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution will be held June 18–22, 2007, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The training focuses on negotiation and mediation techniques and process, conflict theories and practices, conflict assessment, conflict sources and types, consensus building, ethics is mediation, alternative dispute resolution system design, cross-cultural communication techniques, and building dispute resolution practice. Registration fee of $525 includes course manual and materials and two lunches. (There is a 10% discount for a group of five or more.) Certificate issued to those completing the 40-hour workshop. Twentieth Anniversary Celebration: Managing Conflict and Removing Barriers to Collaborative Decision Making, organized by The Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution in Greenbelt, Maryland, will be held June 21–22. The 2007 conference is designed to provide public and private sector professionals with the latest information on alternative dispute resolution skills, concepts, and strategies. It features a diversified faculty of business, government, and academic experts and affords attendees the opportunity to participate in smaller sessions. A 20th anniversary dinner will be held on June 21 after the first day of conference activities. Summer Learning Forum 2007, organized by Harvard Negotiation Insight Initiative in Cambridge, Massachusetts, will be held July 9–20 (Week I: July 9–13; Week II: July 16–20). This summer forum will aid in deepening the mastery of professionals and raise awareness in the broader culture. The Harvard Negotiation Insight Initiative integrates ethical, philosophical, and spiritual traditions into the negotiation and conflict fields. It will also explore contemplative practice and the inner life while building skills in negotiation and conflict mediation. International Women’s Peace Conference, sponsored by Peacemakers Incorporated, will be held July 10–15, 2007. This conference will allow participants to select three workshops from a list of topics associated with women’s peace. Such topics are diplomacy, discrimination, economics, education, environment, exploitation, globalization, health, law, media, migration, poverty, power, violence, and war. The training will be held at Adam Marks Conference Center in Dallas, Texas. Registration fee of $250 Adult, $200 Senior 65+, and student $150 includes all conference activities and events (excluding meals) and a complimentary one-year membership to Peacemakers Incorporated. The 16th Annual Dispute Resolution Center Conference for Mediators and Arbitrators, organized by the Florida State Courts, will be held August 23–25, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The goal of the conference is to provide educational opportunities that will be of interest and benefit to professionals involved in the field of conflict resolution. Basic Mediation Training, this four-day experiential workshop, presented by the Institute for Public Administration’s Conflict Resolution Program (CRP) at the University of Delaware will be held September 24–25 and October 1–2, 2007, at the historic Buena Vista Conference Center in New Castle, Delaware, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The registration fee is $625 on or before July 31 and $725 after August 1.
