The following is a schedule of upcoming trainings, conferences and seminars in conflict resolution:

January

The Loyola Law School Center for Conflict Resolution offers two 40-hour Mediation Nuts & Bolts Trainings each year. Loyola Law School hosts the training in Los Angeles, Calif. The spring training dates are January 28 and February 1, February 4 and 8, February 11 and 15, and February 18 and 25. For more information, please visit their website at www.lls.edu/ccr/training.

On February 18 and 19, 2008,  the Advanced Issues in Parenting Coordination: Functional Co-Parenting for High Conflict Families Conference will be presented in Irving, Tex. The conference will be located at the Wyndham at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport North. For more information, please visit their website at www.afccnet.org/training.

The American Bar Association (ABA) will present Arbitrating the Mega-Case in Los Angeles, Calif., at the Biltmore. The conference will be held on February 8, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The fee for non-ABA members is $495. The fee for ABA membes is $450. On March 27–31, 2008, in Jacksonville, Fla., the Florida Supreme court will present: 40-Hour Florida Circuit Civil Mediation Training Program. This Florida Supreme Court–certified 40-hour training program combines lecture, discussion, and a heavy emphasis on role-playing to promote comprehensive understanding and practical skills development for the mediator selected/ordered to mediate a circuit civil action. Among the topics and subject matter that will be covered include: Negotiation Skills, Court Processes, Mediation Communication, Mediator Ethics, Mediation Confidentiality, Dealing with Pro Se Participants, Dealing with Attorneys in Mediation, Developing Options for Mutual Gain, Mediating in Difficult Situations, Drafting Mediated Settlement Agreements, Mediator Certification, and Discipline & Running a Mediation Practice. The 2nd International Summit on Conflict Resolution Education Youth and Conflict: Global Challenges, Local Strategies will be held on March 28–31, 2008, in Cleveland, Ohio. This summit is an opportunity for colleges and universities, non-governmental organizations, and governmental organizations to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and research on issues of violence and conflict confronting our youth. Presentations will focus on conflict management and peace education strategies for youth and methods that reduce the societal violence that surrounds youth.  Participants will exchange program best practices, evaluation methodology, creation of policy implementation structures, and consideration of obstacles to success.  Conference participants will be drawn from the local, state, national, and international community.  College students and faculty are encouraged to attend and present their findings.
