October 14, 15 and 21, 22, 2008: The Conflict Resolution Program is hosting a four-day Basic Mediation Training, where participants will learn perceptions of conflict and alternative dispute resolution, the six steps in mediation, strategies for “getting beyond stuck,” and skills to deal with emotions. The event will be hosted at the Buena Vista Conference Center in New Castle, Del. The Conflict Resolution Program (CRP) is part of the University of Delaware’s Institute for Public Administration, in the college of Human Services, Education & Public Policy. CRP is a resource dedicated to supporting transformational and organizational change in nonprofit, public, government, and educational settings. This is done primarily through teaching and promotion of effective communication, collaborative problem-solving, and conflict resolution. www.ipa.udel.edu/crp/mediation.html
October 14-17, 2008: Basic Conflict Coaching Workshop. In a four-day workshop, participants will have an introduction to and basic working knowledge of conflict coaching using the CINERGY model; an understanding of the types of skills required to provide conflict coaching; experience of the coaching model as a coach, coachee, and observer; knowledge about how coaching principles combine with conflict management principles and the application of this technique; and suggested documents and information about the logistics of conflict coaching.
