RACE AGAINST FAMILY VIOLENCE ON CREEK ROAD

On Saturday, May 10th, the 12th annual Race Against Family Violence was held on Creek Road in Newark. Leading the way for the Creek Road Runners were two age-group winners: ever-steady CRR Dan Simmons (60-64) won in 20:47 and CRR Mary Braun (45-49) in 24:37. Running at mom’s side, Mary’s daughter Becky won the 14-18s with the identical time. Oh, and CRR Rich Braun, not to be outdone, came to the line just three seconds ahead of wife and daughter. CRR Tripp Shenton was the second CRR finisher in 22:22, and CRR John Sarmousakis finished in 24:55.

RACE FOR LETTY RESULTS

CRR Christina Parsons took the spotlight in this local 5K, run in Glasgow on Thursday, May 8th. Christina won the 40-49 age group in 22:16, besting husband and CRR George Parsons by 2:21. Their son Sam won the 13-and-unders with an impressive 19:10. CRR Bill Rose, tuning up for next weekend’s Marathon Relay ten-miler, ran a 19:35.

The fab four CRRs from Newark competed in the Broad Street Ten Miler on Sunday, May 4. Leading the way was CRR David James with a stellar 1:02:03 effort, which was good for 234th overall and third in the 50-54 age group (an age-graded 85.5)! CRR Dan Simmons placed 7th among the 60-64s with a solid 1:11:33. Ever dependable seniors CRR Bob Taggart (65-69) and CRR Deb Compton (55-59) each placed 4th in their respective age groups, with times of 1:12:16 and 1:18:41 and an identical age-graded score—81.5. Super effort, all of you!
