CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS - BRIDGE OVER WHITE CLAY CREEK

Now that spring is here, finishing work has picked up on the bridge across White Clay Creek. Other than trail approaches and landscaping, there doesn't appear to be much more work to be done. Hopefully, the next set of photos will be of the grand opening!

The three-section span was installed on Wednesday, February 25. Now, the only construction that remains on this newest of ways to get across Wild & Scenic White Clay Creek is for the cement sections to be poured that will abut the bridge ends, creating smooth entrances onto the span. The photos below were taken on March 5, 2009.

DelDOT is near completion on the approaches and the footings for a bridge over White Clay Creek. One of the sections of the three-section span is here and waiting placement. Photos below taken on February 21, 2009. Estimates are that the bridge could be completed in as few as two weeks. Of course, clean-up and trail readiness will take a bit longer.

DelDOT continues to work on the approaches and the footings for a bridge over White Clay Creek. This is no “bridge to nowhere,” as it will enable runners to utilize either side of the creek for several miles, in this instance along a service road on the east side that follows the old Pomeroy railroad bed. Photos below taken on November 28, 2008.
