MPA Part-Time Career Enhancement Option

Enhance your government and nonprofit career with UD's MPA Career Enhancement Option, a part-time program.

What do a minister, a police officer, and a social service administrator all have in common? All are graduates of the University of Delaware's part-time Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, now called the "Career Enhancement Option."

Designed so that busy professionals can earn their MPA in just three and a half years, the University of Delaware's fully accredited MPA program is recruiting part-time students for the fall 2005 semester. Formerly the Mid-Career Option, the restructured program will admit a cohort of students every fall, as opposed to every other year, and will admit students with any number of years of experience. The MPA is the standard professional degree for anyone desiring to advance their career in government or nonprofit management—much as the MBA is aimed at those pursuing careers in the private sector.

With flexible scheduling and year-round courses, the Career Enhancement Option is designed so that students who enroll by September of 2005 will graduate by the end of 2008, with a nationally accredited master's degree from the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy. U.S. News & World
Report
ranked University of Delaware's master's specialty in City Management and Urban Policy 9th in the nation, and the specialty in nonprofit management is ranked 14th in the nation.

The 42-credit MPA program requires seven core courses, all with the goal of fostering better management of public service programs. Part-time students may pursue one of three formal areas of specialization: State and Local Management, Community Development and Nonprofit Leadership, and Organizational Leadership. The Financial Management and Health Policy and Administration specializations are available with some daytime coursework or as focus areas within the State and Local Government specialization.

Prospective students should apply to the MPA program by April 15th in order to receive full consideration for limited scholarship funding. The final deadline for applications is July 15th.
