Carrie researched modeling methods to calculate total direct/indirect costs to the University as part of a major institutional economic-impact study and designed a survey to assess student expectations. |

Assigned to the Office of Minority Business Development, Sendy analyzed municipal spending patterns for female and minority businesses and recommended relevant revisions to the City Charter. She also helped plan a Minority Business Expo for prospective clients. |

Tiffani was involved with two highly sensitive projects as a Mayoral Fellow assigned to the Baltimore City Public Schools System. She conducted research on potential school-consolidation implementation timelines and formulated draft performance measures related to transportation and food-service activities.

Mike researched and developed a major Life-Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) purchasing model and tracked state compliance with federal energy-conservation programs. He was also responsible for negotiating contracts with selected vendors and tracking equipment/billing issues of bankrupt organizations. |

When not hanging out under a palm tree with Development Services Director Tom Harowski, Sarah created a new sidewalk master plan for the city, formulated community economic-development strategies, and researched municipal-zoning issues. |

Pictured with Public Information Officer Jim Salmon, Marissa wrote newsletters, press releases, reports, and media updates for the DRBA, a regional authority charged with providing vital transportation links (bridges, ferries and airports) and regional economic-development initiatives between Delaware and New Jersey. She also participated in TV/radio news conferences and enhanced the DRBA's website. |

Melanie researched issues of financial concern to legislatures, especially initiatives considered by the states to include "unfunded mandates." She also monitored Congressional actions within the complex federal appropriations process for potential budgetary impact to members. |

Returning to her home state of Ohio, Toni conducted staff training with various ministry directors, organized the New Visions summer camps, oversaw new program design/development, supervised youth staff members, and monitored operating budgets for a number of outreach activities offered by the church to the larger community.

Besides concentrating her research efforts on experimental community-based hospice care for VA clients and reviewing ICU bed occupancy rates, Julie also developed draft protocols for a patient-education focus group project and studied staff sick-leave utilization. Her supervisor was Joanne MacKenzie, Staff Assistant to the Medical Center Director. |

Working in the Office of Business Management, Melissa researched and recommended process-flow and performance- measurement guidelines for five divisions of the department. She also developed the first complete policy manual for the property division. |

Chandra "Chela" Sproles

Chela personally raised all the funds needed to underwrite her transportation costs and living expenses while serving an internship with the Mohau Centre in South Africa. She developed and presented community education programs for women and children directly impacted by HIV/AIDS, supported orphanage medical staff, and visited with families in their homes. |
