Ray worked with legislative and legal staff to research best practices on many issues that affect Delaware in the health and education fields. His research was important in helping legislators become more informed and better able to make decisions about key topics and legislation. |

Carissa Copeland
First State Community Loan Fund
Traveling to various locations throughout Delaware, Carissa worked to coordinate outreach and marketing. This included
meeting with local officials, housing organizations, and small business owners as well as creating a written report detailing the economic and community development in southern
Delaware.

Manoj "Tony" Doss
U.S. Small Business Administration, Delaware Office
Tony‘s projects included minority outreach to the black and Hispanic population of Wilmington and coordinating Main Street Delaware entrepreneurship activities. He also completed the office‘s Business Resumption Plan that is mandatory for all federal agencies in addition to marketing SBA events and workshops. Collecting and updating information about the various projects funded by the Delaware Strategic Fund, Maria created database of historical transactions undertaken by The Delaware Economic Development Authority going back as far as 10+ years. This database was adopted as an integral tool of daily operation and analysis particularly by the Capital Resources Center. She is pictured here with her supervisor John F. Christiana Health Care Services
Wanyin and Charity are pictured with their supervisor, Family and Community Medicine Research Director, Dr. James Gill. Charity’s projects involved analyzing data and drafting reports for various grant programs, whose focus was on health education, obesity, and chronic disease screenings. Wan-Yin was primarily focused on the evaluation of the Community Health Access Program (CHAP); a regional study centered on healthcare access for Delawarean’s who are un- and under-insured. |

Erin (right) is pictured here with her supervisor Colleen Kanara, who is the State Policy Analyst for AstraZeneca. Over the summer Erin worked in an analytical support role within the Public Policy Department. She dealt with a number of projects focusing on such issues as the Medicare Modernization Act, state pedigree legislation, federal Medicare implications, intellectual property rights, and state-managed care/Medicaid organizational drug coverage.

U.S. Department of Transportation
Ivan worked to compile and prepare an annual report summarizing the ongoing research and development programs and projects underway within the Office of Infrastructure Research and Development. In addition he conducted several site visits to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, Springfield Interchange, and National Institute of Standards and Technology. He is pictured with his supervisor Dr. Steven B. Chase, the acting director of the FHWA’s Office of Infrastructure Research and Development.

Melissa Murphy
Psychiatry Department, Mount Sinai School of Medicine
Melissa commuted to Manhattan to work as an interim program coordinator for the Child and Family Resilience Program, a nonprofit, child-trauma program funded solely through federal and foundation grants. She had the opportunity to set policy and procedures, develop a website, and develop a business plan for the eight programs, most intimately for WTC KIDS and Families Program. In addition, Melissa gained vital experience in hospital administration and healthcare finance. |

Sarah worked on a variety of projects that encompassed economic development, environmental issues, public relations, business and marketing efforts, and large-scale event planning. She gained a very broad and rewarding experience working in the many facets of the organization. Sarah is pictured here with Governor Ruth Ann Minner at a ribbon-cutting event that she helped to orchestrate at the Delaware Airpark in Cheswold.

This summer Jennifer interned with Neighborhood House, Inc. a community-based nonprofit serving Wilmington, Delaware’s oldest and most economically challenged neighborhood—Southbridge. Jennifer served under NHI’s Housing Services Program, specifically aiding the Housing Counseling Program with strategic planning, partnering with the Delaware Money School, and enrolling in the Delaware State Housing Authority’s Live Near Your Work Program. |

Stephanie Maddin
Delaware State Housing Authority
Stephanie worked with the Delaware State Housing Authority in drafting a policy paper about durability of manufactured housing as an affordable-housing resource. Duties involved meeting with community and industry organizations, observing the passage of manufactured housing bills at the Delaware General Assembly, and investigating the feasibility of forming the first manufactured housing cooperative in Delaware. Results of her research culminated in a presentation at the Governor's State Housing Conference in November 2005. |
