Katie Diamond (center) interned with the United States Government Accountability Office in Washington, D.C. While at GAO, Katie was a part of the Health Care team working on a project regarding the Food and Drug Administration. Katie also briefly contributed to a mandate for the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009. Graceanna Enzinger
Volunteer Kilimanjaro
Graceanna taught at two schools in rural Tanzania. At the primary school, she evaluated teaching methods within the entire school for teachers’ improvement. Additionally, she taught mathematics and science and worked as a teacher’s assistant. At the secondary school, Graceanna taught five English classes, each of between 40 and 60 students.

Monique Liston
Legislative Fellow
Monique worked for the Senate Majority Caucus, which included working with the Senate, House of Representatives, Cabinet Secretaries, the Office of the Governor, and private citizens. Monique analyzed legislation and policies from Delaware and throughout the country. She drafted policy memos for senators to provide information on current and upcoming legislation. Monique staffed the Senate Education Committee and Senate Health and Human Services Committee. She also had a special assignment working with the bi-partisan Kids Caucus which is a codified legislative body dedicated to tackling policy issues dealing with children.

Sarah Logrieco
Achievement First
Sarah (back row, center) worked as an Operations Intern with the Operations Teams at Achievement First Crown Heights Charter schools in Brooklyn, N.Y. Achievement First is a growing network of high-performing K-12 public charter schools seeking to deliver equal educational opportunities to all children, particularly those in low-income communities. In order to ensure that teachers and principals can focus on promoting student achievement through instructional practices, Sarah joined the operation staff in running and managing the daily school business. Throughout the summer, Sarah’s ongoing projects included: managing scholar wait-lists; creating, editing, and formating school specific materials; communicating directly with scholar families; creating class schedules and rosters; as well as managing and monitoring physical school set-up. As a member of the Crown Heights Operations Team, Sarah learned how to navigate the organization’s electronic database and participated in team-building events such as the Annual Operations Retreat in New Haven, Conn. |

Jissell Martínez
Delaware Criminal Justice Council
Jissell Martínez interned at the Criminal Justice Council in Wilmington, Delaware. Her main responsibilities included assisting grant monitors, compiling an Executive Management Book, and conducting a process-and-outcomes evaluation on a juvenile justice grant. She was able to further develop an understanding of the grant-awarding and -evaluation process as well as collaborative efforts between state agencies and nonprofit organizations in the criminal justice system. |

Education Pioneers/Los Angeles Co. Office of Education
Lucretia (center) is a member of the Education Pioneers in Los Angeles 2009 Cohort and
worked at the Los Angeles County Office of Education, Head Start/State-Preschool Division (LACOE).
Her project included updating the Comprehensive Community
Assessment, which is a tool used to support delegate agencies (childcare
providers) and the grantee (LACOE) in implementing quality services to children
and their families. Her responsibilities included gathering and analyzing data,
facilitating planning meetings, and assisting committee members with the overall
development of the Comprehensive Community Assessment. Pictured with Lucretia are Fellows of the LACOE
2009 cohort with whom she worked.

David Wihry worked with the State of Maine Department of Transportation’s Planning Bureau, researching legislation and doing policy comparisons between states.
