U.S. Office of Minority Health
www.omhrc.gov The mission of the Office of Minority Health (OMH) is to improve and protect the health of racial and ethnic minority populations through the development of health policies and programs that will eliminate health disparities. OMH was established in 1985 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). It advises the Secretary and the Office of Public Health and Science on public health program activities affecting American Indians and Alaska Natives, Asian Americans, Blacks/African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Native Hawaiians, and other Pacific Islanders.

National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD)

The purpose of the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities is to conduct and support research, training, dissemination of information, and other programs with respect to minority health conditions and other populations with health disparities. The center also maps out a strategic plan and budget for reducing and ultimately eliminating disparities on a national level.

This compendium has various community programs that have been implemented statewide in order to address health and health care disparities. This list of best practices details community initiatives that have been evaluated and shown to have positive effects on minority health.
