Delaware Senior Center Grant-in-Aid Project
Resources for Delaware Senior Centers
Through healthcare and geriatric policy research, IPA, working with the State of Delaware’s Office of the Controller General, has facilitated the Delaware Senior Center Grant-in-Aid Project for approximately 20 years. IPA staff and state officials work cooperatively to administer the grant-in-aid application assessment process based on a formalized funding formula.
The funding formula considers geographic, demographic, and programmatic factors to provide a fair and efficient method of funding the state’s grant-in-aid eligible senior centers. To gain a sufficient understanding of the programs and services offered at each center, at least two IPA staff team evaluators will conduct on-site visits of centers applying for grant-in-aid funding. The evaluation team comprises graduate students in the University of Delaware’s School of Urban Affairs & Public Policy as well as professional staff specialized in public policy and nonprofit management.
IPA strives continually to promote accountability of state grant-in-aid funding by increasing senior centers’ awareness of program and service enhancing methods while assisting government officials project the long-term needs of the state's senior population. Working with the State of Delaware and the University of Delaware’s Center for Applied Demography and Survey Research, IPA researches senior center best practices and provides information pertinent to improving the quality of Delaware’s elderly population through preventative, cost-effective healthcare policies.
