Impacting the Public

Recognizing that the future health of the democratic process rests in the ability of our nation’s youth to understand and make a commitment to meaningful civic participation, the Institute for Public Administration established The Democracy Project. The Democracy Project’s flagship program is its summer Institute for Teachers, offered in collaboration with the Delaware Department of State. The goal of the Institute is to help teachers improve the teaching of civics and democracy in Delaware classrooms through the development of innovative lesson plans.

In addition to the Institute for Teachers, The Democracy Project offers a number of other services including links to a range of civics-related resources as well as model lesson plans.   IPA also sponsors a number of other program activities for Delaware K-20 students, including the coordination and delivery of a required course for the University of Delaware School of Education on teaching civics and economics.
