Water quality report, faculty-edited book, and alum working as UD business development analyst featuredThe Institute for Public Administration was prominent in the inaugural issue of the University of Delaware's new 48-page annual report on research, titled “University of Delaware Research—On the path to a new energy future.”
On page 24, the sidebar features the October 2008–published “Technical Summary: State of the Delaware River Basin Report,” a collaborative effort among the University of Delaware (through IPA’s Water Resources Agency), Cornell, Rutgers, and Penn State to assess the health of the four-state Delaware River Basin. IPA’s Jerry Kauffman, director of the Water Resources Agency, is quoted in the article. The report was authored by Kauffman, IPA associate policy scientist Andrew Homsey, and Andrew Belden (’09 MEEP).
On page 47, the Leland Ware–edited book “Choosing Equality: Essays and Narratives on the Desegregation Experience,” is described in a brief article. Ware contributed to an overview of desegregation since Brown v. Board of Education, focusing on Delaware as a microcosm of the national scene and also looking at events across the country.
Alumna Shelley (Cook) Mix (MPA ’08) is listed/pictured on page 13 as a staff member in the University of Delaware’s Office of Economic Innovation & Partnerships (OEIP). Mix, who formerly held a position in the New Castle County (Del.) executive’s office, is working as a business development analyst with OEIP.
IPA was also listed among the research centers on page 48 of the magazine.
