1999 Conference - "Technology Access: Overcoming the Digital Divide" The "Technology Access: Overcoming the Digital Divide" conference took place in Newark, Delaware, on December 10, 1999. It was organized and held by the Institute for Public Administration. The conference was designed to bring together organizations and leaders from the public, nonprofit, and private sectors in Delaware who are concerned with strategies, actions, and skills that will improve information technology access for all citizens in the state. A major goal was to stimulate and support projects, programs, and coalitions that would build access at home, in schools, libraries, community centers, and experiments that help bridge the Digital Divide. An overview
of Technology options, best practices, and innovations from the
country as a whole as well as in Delaware was presented by national
experts and people active in Delaware. Breakout and general discussions
provided the opportunities for exchanging information and exploring
collaborative possibilities. A grant
program to fund community access projects and application procedures
was announced. |
