Wednesday
University of Delaware campus and Newark Main Street tour
Due to the inclement weather, attendees took a tour by bus of the University
campus, including the beautiful central campus Green, and Newarks
Main Street. (virtual campus tour)
Off-site dinner co-hosted by the Delaware Department of State
Attendees enjoyed a gala reception and dinner at the stately Buena Vista
Conference Center in New Castle, Delaware, co-hosted with Delaware Secretary
of State Harriet Windsor.
Thursday
Briefing and tour of the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia
Attendees visited the beautiful new National
Constitution Center (NCC), which opened July 4, 2003. The NCC is devoted
to dramatically telling the story of the Constitution through more than
100 interactive, multimedia exhibit components, film, photographs, text,
sculpture, and artifacts.
Dinner out, Philly-style
After the NCC tour, attendees were treated to dinner out, Philly-style,
enjoying Philly favoritescheesesteaks, Tastykakes®, soft pretzels,
etc.
Friday
Hagley Museum tour
The last of the conference's special activities, several attendees visited
the Hagley Museum.
Located along the Brandywine River on the site of the first du Pont black
powder works, Hagley, the first du Pont residence in America, provides
a unique glimpse into American life at home and at work in the 19th century,
set amid 230+ acres of trees and flowering shrubs.
