Jackie is currently pursuing a Masters in Health Promotion with a focus in Aging at the University of Delaware. She graduated from the University of Delaware in 2007 with a BS in Health Behavior Management and a concentration in Fitness Management. Through this major, Jackie has developed her passion in health promotion with a desire to create her own program to promote and encourage older adults to reach his/her optimal quality of life through achieving and maintaining a balance of physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and mental health. She believes that the greater quality of life that one possesses, the greater one’s outlook on and participation in life becomes.
During her senior year of college, Jackie interned at Delaware Health and Social Services’ (DHSS) Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities (DSAAPD). In the course of this experience, Jackie was able to enhance her skills in research, development and implementation of curriculums and education modules that target leading health concerns for older adults. Through her internship, Jackie participated in various community outreach programs and events such as the 2007 Women’s Wellness Expo, Summer Institute 2007, and the DSAAPD Annual All Staff Meeting.
After graduating in May 2007, Jackie worked as a Management Analyst for DHSS’ Office of the Secretary where she was able to continue expanding her skills in research and technical assistance, facilitation, planning and evaluation, coordination and management, narrative report writing, as well as verbal and written communication. These skills were exercised on a daily basis while
multi-tasking the following concurrent projects: 2007 Women’s Wellness Expo, 2007 Leadership Conference, DHSS Organizational Health Assessment Workshops, and the Telemedicine Research Project.
She is currently working for the Institute of Public Administration on the Senior Center Project which involves evaluating Delaware’s senior centers for the purpose of allocating state funds through the Grant-in-Aid process.
Jackie believes the Master of Science degree in Health Promotion will provide her with a well-established background and the necessary resources to successfully plan, develop and implement a health promotion program for optimal living of older adults.

Telemedicine Research Project, 2007
Telemedicine is a form of health care that enables individuals living in rural areas to receive the necessary care that would otherwise be difficult to obtain due to long traveling distances. Additionally, these individuals have a greater opportunity to receive care from specialists. The purpose of the telemedicine research project was to gain a better understanding of how telemedicine is implemented in the participating states, what is involved with the process, as well as to identify the pros and cons to this form of health care.
