Kat was selected to be a Legislative Fellow for the 144th Delaware Legislative Session (January–June 2008). As a fellow for the Senate Majority Caucus, Kat worked closely with several chairman from various committees including Education, Sunset, Election and Insurance, Community/County Affairs, Health and Social Services, and Public Safety. As a Legislative Fellow, Kat was able to refine her research skills to ensure that senators received relevant information in a timely manner. While working for the Education Committee, Kat had an opportunity to help draft a resolution regarding higher education. While working on the Community/County Affairs committee, Kat was able to witness the process by which a Delaware town incorporates or renews its charter.
Kat worked as a Durational Planner at the Delaware Transit Corporation during the summer of 2008. As a durational planner, Kat had an opportunity to learn the basics of Trapeze 7—a planning and scheduling software program. Kat also worked on the Governor’s transition report, a report that was drafted and will later be published and presented to Delaware’s next governor.
Currently Kat is a Research Assistant through the Institute for Public Administration and is working with the Wilmington Area Planning Council (WILMAPCO) on several projects that involve the University, DART, and Delaware.
