Danielle’s undergraduate studies in English, Linguistics, and Speech were completed in 2004 at the University of Mary Washington. Upon graduation, she moved to Hong Kong, China, to work as a Visiting Tutor for Lingnan University. She acted as a teaching assistant for linguistics and rhetoric courses, coached and adjudicated for the Hong Kong debate league, choreographed and coached theatre, and facilitated workshops centered around social issues and diversity training. She also wrote programming for a nonprofit community language school.

Danielle’s interest in public health began as her work in Hong Kong and travels throughout Southeast Asia exposed her to the extremes of disease, chronic illness, and ubiquitous lesser quality of life that occurs when there is a lack of comprehensive public health policy. She has spent the past year serving in AmeriCorps with the Alzheimer’s Association, facilitating existing outreach programming, and writing novel programs to educate youth about Alzheimer’s Disease and a brain-healthy lifestyle.

She continues to be an active volunteer in youth outreach for the Alzheimer’s Association. Danielle would like to pursue a career in international health policy and global health. She is currently working as a Research Training Assistant with the Division of Public Health, Disaster Preparedness Section.
