 Law and Public Policy
Law and public policy are inextricably intertwined. State, federal, and local laws and ordinances reflect the policy choices of legislatures and other governing bodies. The Institute for Public Administration (IPA) examines the legislative process, focusing primarily on state and local laws and regulations as well the activities of regulatory agencies. IPA monitors the impact of policy choices on the public and private sectors.
On June 6, 2008, IPA is partnering with the Center for Comunity Research and Service to convene the Louis L. Redding Symposium, “Home Ownership and the Mortgage Meltdown.” Featured will be a keynote address by Henry Cisneros, the former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Mr. Cisneros will discuss the current problems and the role that home ownership plays in enhancing a family’s social and economic opportunities.
Other IPA-sponsored University of Delaware events involving law and public policy include “The High Cost of a Low Income: Financial Services in Underserved Markets,” “A Presentation by Michael A. Olivas: Hernandez v. Texas” and “A Evening with a Local Hero: A Conversation with Leonard Williams, Esq.”
