Water Resources

Water resources involve water quality and water supply policy, planning and management utilizing an intergovernmental watershed approach. Many federal, state, and local governments are responsible for managing drinking water, wastewater, groundwater, floodplain, stormwater, and wetland programs. In many towns and counties, water resources programs such as water and sewer can account for up to half of a local public works budget.

Through the Water Resources Agency (IPA-WRA), faculty, staff, and students at IPA provide water resources assistance to state and local governments and the public in Delaware and the Delaware Valley through the University's service, education, and research roles. The Agency is a key player in this assistance. IPA faculty and staff teach a number of water-resources-related courses, including Regional Watershed Management, and GIS & Public Policy).

Graduate research assistantships are typically available through the school's MPA and MA programs for students with a focus in water resources.
